New Zealand and Tonga meet in the first Rugby League World Cup 2026 semi-final at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle, with a place in the final at Suncorp Stadium at stake. Tonga topped the combined Pool B and C table with three wins from three, including 30–12 against England and 20–18 against Samoa. New Zealand finished second in Pool A after a 24–22 opening loss to Australia, then beat the Cook Islands 82–16 and Fiji 78–0. A knockout match level after 80 minutes goes to extra time, then golden point.
